Session Information

June 10-14:

Uncover the secrets of sustainability through indigenous wisdom. Dive deep into the waters of traditional practices, where mountains meet the sea. Feel the earth beneath your feet and the ocean’s heartbeat as you learn to nurture life around you for generations to come. Prepare to become stewards of our environment, weaving timeless knowledge into a modern tapestry of conservation.

June 17-21:

Let’s talk about endangered species. This week of Ocean Camp we will dive into the idea of survival and what we can do to protect plants and animals who need our help. With a focus on species in Hawaiʻi, each day we will center on a different animal or plant. From snorkel trips to plant restoration to beach explorations, we will have the chance to experience some of these amazing endangered species and their homes.

July 8-13:

Rock you like a hurricane:
Currents act like a conveyor belt, transporting warm water from the equator toward the poles and cold water from the poles back to the tropics. With that transfer of heat and help from the wind patterns and tides, the ocean creates our global climate. This week at Ocean Camp, we’ll be diving into the science behind those ocean characteristics and the weather patterns we experience every day. Exploring topics from clouds to thunder, tsunamis to cyclones and rainbows to hurricanes, we’ll discover the wonders of weather, the ocean and how to protect it together.

July 15-19:

Explore the significance of plants and marine life in Hawaiian culture, past and present! We’ll dive into the fascinating worlds of ethnobotany and marine ecology, revealing the intricate connections between them. From exploring traditional uses to understanding their critical contribution to ocean health, get ready for an enlightening journey into the heart of traditions and the natural world.
