Nina Rothe

Research Assistant, Australia

Nina joined Pacific Whale Foundation in 2024. She completed a BSc in Applied Biology before obtaining her MSc in Marine Biology from Universidade do Algarve in Portugal. Her masters thesis focused on coral biomineralisation under different CO2 conditions. Before joining PWF, Nina conducted research on sea turtle and manta ray populations in the Maldives and worked on different research projects in Australia, including bird of prey ecology, manta ray population dynamics and humpback whale migration patterns. As a research assistant in Australia, Nina will help catalogue cetacean images and be responsible for entering and quality-controlling our field data. In the field, she will assist with our data collection and field operations, including taking photo-ID images, recording data and launching/retrieving the drone.
