Lauren Spencer (she/her)

Education Specialist

Lauren joined the Pacific Whale Foundation as a Marine Naturalist in 2021, later moving into the Education department as an Education Specialist in 2022. From a young age, Lauren has been passionate about nature and outdoor spaces, specifically the ocean, after watching movies Finding Nemo and Free Willy as a child. This love continued, leading her to complete a Bachelor’s in Marine Biology from Hawaii Pacific University in 2019. Shifting focus to teaching and creating inclusive educational spaces, Lauren continued her education at Otterbein University, completing a Masters of Education focused on Informal Science Education. Her graduate research centered on the assessment of informal science education spaces through a lens of accessibility and inclusion. Working in a variety of informal science education jobs, Lauren is excited to bring her diverse experience to PWF. She is specifically focused on creating educational processes and programs centering accessibility, diversity, inclusion, equity and justice. Lauren hopes to continually contribute to the fight of making environmental education accessible and safe for all groups of people.
