Josh Heimowitz

Chief Development Officer

Josh joined the Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF) ‘ohana in January of 2024 as the Chief Development Officer. He is leading our Development team as we strive to build a diverse and sustainable base of funders to support our education, conservation, outreach and research efforts. Prior to joining PWF, Josh spent the past 30 years both working and volunteering with mission driven organizations committed to improving communities, environmental stewardship, social justice and education equity.

Josh original moved to Hawai‘i in 2001 where he was the Executive Director of YMCA Camp Erdman on the North Shore of O‘ahu, He then spent several years as the Executive Program Director for the Redwoods Group, a social enterprise that was doing important work to support youth serving organizations across the country. He then joined Teach For America Hawai‘i in 2014 where he was the Senior Managing Director External Network. He was born in New York, raised in South Florida and graduated from Slippery Rock University with a B.S. in Sport Management. Josh’s favorite role of all-time has been being dad to his two daughters (Kaya and Jade). In his free time he enjoys spending time with family and friends, being at the beach, getting in the ocean, golfing, traveling , playing poker and ‘āina based service projects.
