Elizabeth Beato is a research assistant based in Hawaii and is responsible for quality control and processing of data. She previously worked as a research assistant at Allied Whale, contributing to their North Atlantic humpback whale, North Atlantic fin whale, and Antarctic humpback whale catalogs. Elizabeth has worked as a marine naturalist in Hawaii since 2016 and joined the Foundation as a seasonal research assistant in the 2017-2019 whale seasons. In 2021, Elizabeth was hired into a fulltime research assistant position to process our aerial and underwater footage and assist with Hawaii field studies.

Elizabeth currently serves as a level 1 member of NOAA’s Hawaiian Islands Large Whale Entanglement Response team.
