Biography:
Prior to joining the conservation team full-time in 2022, Ashley Hechavarria spent most of her first year with the foundation as a PacWhale Eco-Adventures Certified Marine Naturalist in Maui’s waters advocating on behalf of Hawaiʻi’s wildlife. Before her time on Maui, she worked as a wildlife biologist specializing in marine mammal rehabilitation and release in Florida, where she also earned her B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida. Ashley’s love for the sea was ignited at a young age and she is eager to spread that to the community and beyond through managing community marine debris research and outreach efforts.
