Ocean Camp Offers Summer of Fun and Adventure

The marine education team from Pacific Whale Foundation is offering a summer of fun and adventure through its Ocean Camp for kids ages 5-12.  The weekly sessions take place Monday through Friday (except holidays) beginning on Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, July 25. Camp hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at Pacific Whale Foundation’s air-conditioned Discovery Center in Ma’alaea.
“We are excited to engage your child in a fun and enriching program that will expand their knowledge and appreciation of the ocean,” says Marine Education Specialist Lendy Leslie. “Each day is designed to help children connect with wildlife and their habitats -- all while having fun and making friends along the way!”
Ocean Camp features a different theme each week and includes many field trips and adventures, including surfing and windsurfing lessons, tidepool explorations, snorkel cruises to Molokini, trips to Maui Ocean Center and beach visits. The program also offers games, art, hands-on science exploration and more. Ocean Camp is staffed by friendly, enthusiastic and energetic professionals with years of teaching and camp experience. There is a 1:10 teacher to camper ratio and children can be enrolled for individual or multiple days.
Camp registration is $67 per day ($50 for Pacific Whale Foundation members) if you sign up by May 15. After May 15, camp registration is $72 per day ($55 for members) and last minute registration (24 hours prior to or day-of camp) is $77 per day ($61 for members). Register for five consecutive days and receive a discounted weekly rate of $245 if you are or become a Pacific Whale Foundation member. Camp scholarships are available through the No Child Left Indoors program.
There is also an optional lunch service for $6.50 per day, which is provided through Porto, Maui's new flame-fired artisan pizza restaurant, and through Ola Catering. Owned and operated by Pacific Whale Foundation, both establishments are located at the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops. All lunches for campers are made with all-natural ingredients and come with organic snacks and 100% fruit juice.
