Hawaii-Southern California Training and Testing Study Area

Affected Areas

The Hawaii-Southern California Training and Testing Area consists of the sea- and airspace within several ranges between the International Dateline and Southern California.  Activities are to be conducted primarily within existing range complexes and operating areas located in the water around the Hawaiian Islands, off the coast of Southern California, Navy pierside locations in both areas, and a transit corridor connecting the Hawai’i and Southern California range complexes.

The at-sea portion of the Hawaii Range Complex encompasses ocean areas around the major Hawaiian Islands, with offshore areas forming an area approximately 1,700-by-1,600 nautical miles, and will include training and assessment of operational forces, missile testing and testing of military systems and equipment.
