Pacific Whale Foundation’s President and Founder, Greg Kaufman, will be leading a special whalewatch cruise on Saturday, February 19. A pioneer in whale research and efforts to save whales, Greg has written three books about whales and is an invited participant in the International Whaling Commissions Scientific Committee. During this special whalewatch, Greg will provide insightful commentary and expert interpretation of the whales’ intriguing behaviors.

Two special whalewatch cruises led by the scientists, researchers and photographers who are the presenters at the upcoming "Weekend with the Experts" will be offered by Pacific Whale Foundation on Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 11.

Humpback whales can be seen breaching and splashing off Maui’s shores from November through May, but experienced whalewatchers agree that the month of February brings the peak of the action. It’s the time when the largest numbers of whales are found in Maui’s clear, warm nearshore waters, mating, giving birth and nurturing their newborn calves.

If you enjoy looking out toward sea and spotting blows, breaches and other whale activity, Pacific Whale Foundation invites you to become a volunteer whale counter during the upcoming Great Whale Count, to be held on Maui on Saturday, February 25 from 8 am to noon.

Award-winning Hawaii performers Anuhea, Hapa, John Cruz, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Marty Dread, Nuff Sedd, Willie K and Manute'a Nui E will be just some of the live entertainment that will be featured this year at World Whale Day on Saturday, February 18, from 9 am to 8 pm at Kalama Park in Kihei.

Whale researcher, author, activist and founder/president of Pacific Whale Foundation, Greg Kaufman will offer a multimedia presentation titled "Tales of Humpbacks: The Latest Research Discoveries and a Journey to Save Them" on Saturday, February 4 at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa on Wailea Alanui Drive from 6:30 pm to 7:30. This presentation is free and open to the public. There will also be a no-host cocktail reception from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

As part of the Maui Whale Festival, a group of noted researchers, scientists, marine experts and photographers from across the U.S. will be sharing their work and their latest discoveries about whales and the ocean during "Weekend with the Experts" -- a three-day event that begins on Friday, February 10 and continues through Sunday, February 12.

Runners and walkers are invited to take part in the upcoming Run and Walk for the Whales, to be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012, with the start and finish at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort in South Maui.

As part of the Maui Whale Festival, the public is invited to sign up for a free Whalewatch and Natural History Hike led by education staff from Pacific Whale Foundation. The hikes are offered on Wednesday mornings, on January 25, February 22, March 28 and April 25, 2012. They are free, but each hike is limited to just 13 participants.
