About the Maui Whale Festival:
In honor of the humpback whales that migrate to Maui each winter, Pacific Whale Foundation will be hosting the Maui Whale Festival from February 1 through March 6. The festival includes a series of events, including the Run for the Whales on Saturday, February 6; Maui's Parade of Whales on Saturday, February 20; Whale Day on Saturday, February 20: and the Great Whale Count, on Saturday, February 27.
This year's Maui Whale Festival is greatly expanded, to include a number of new events. They are the Watching Whales, Saving Whales Symposium on Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14; the first inaugural Keiki Eco-Day Conference on Friday, February 19 and Golf for the Whales, on Saturday, March 6.
Sprinkled in with these events are a number of free talks and special whalewatches, plus other opportunities to learn about Maui's marine environment and participate in voluntourism programs.
Pacific Whale Foundation has created a special website at www.mauiwhalefestival.org to provide details about the Maui Whale Festival.

Breakfast is included in the entry fee for our Run for the Whales participants, but if you are bringing a friend or family members, you can purchase breakfast tickets for them for $7 apiece. The breakfast is a tropical-style continental breakfast, including fresh island fruit, homemade pastries by Coconuts Catering, tea, coffee and water. (Sorry, there are no member discounts on the breakfast tickets.)

2. Whale Photo Safari
(March 21 & April 3, 2010
6:30 am to 11 am)
Lahaina departure
Join Pacific Whale Foundation researcher Annie Macie and noted wildlife photographer Monica Sweet on a whalewatch photo safari from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. aboard the Ocean Explorer from Lahaina Harbor. With a capacity of just 49 passengers, and stadium style seating, this vessel is a favorite of wildlife photographers year-round. Participants will get hands-on training with state-of-the-art digital cameras from Canon and will receive a DVD of all images and video collected during the safari. Participants will receive expert advice on capturing whale images and learn about utilizing the latest digital photo techniques and data storage. Please bring your cameras. A continental breakfast will be provided onboard.

3. VIP Whalewatch With International Experts

Day two, part two of the "Watching Whales, Saving Whales" Symposium
See the whales on our “VIP whalewatch with International Experts” led Greg Kaufman, Executive Director and founder of Pacific Whale Foundation, and by some of the world’s foremost researchers, scientists and environmentalists. This two hour guaranteed whalewatch led by the presenters from the "Watching Whales, Saving Whales" Symposium (held on Day one -February 13- at the Westin Resort and Spa in Ka’anapali) is open to all that would like to participate. Whale sightings are guaranteed or you receive a "Just a Fluke" coupon to go again for free. Soda, juice, beer, wine and mai tais are available for an additional fee onboard.
Includes: eco-adventure cruise will receive a complimentary whale poster, free color whalewatch guide, and deli lunch
Menu: Freshly baked taro and soft rolls, assorted deli platter of ham turkey and roast beef, assorted cheese platter of cheddar, Swiss and Monterey jack, pasta salad, pretzels and chocolate chip raisin cookies.
