Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta Contest Rules
The Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2017 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Kalama Park in Kihei, Hawaii. It is part of our annual World Whale Day Celebration, a free, all-day community festival in honor of Hawaii's humpback whales. You don't have to be present to win. Restrictions apply, as listed here in our contest rules.
No Purchase or Donation is Required
No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta. Making a purchase or donation will not improve your chances of winning.
Winners will be notified by mail by April 1, 2017. All prizes will be awarded.
You may only enter 10 whales per individual online. No photocopies or faxed entries will be accepted. Online entries will be accepted up until midnight, Hawaii Time, on February 11, 2017. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
By entering the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta, entrants agree to abide by all the terms of the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta Rules and the decisions of Pacific Whale Foundation, whose decisions shall be final and binding.
Your Entry Supports Marine Education
The Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta is sponsored by Pacific Whale Foundation, a tax exempt, IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We conduct the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta to raise money through donations to support marine education programs for Maui schoolchildren.
The Grand Prize Winner
The grand prize winner in the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta will receive free airplane tickets for two to Maui from any major city in the United States or Canada, or to Maui from Sydney or Brisbane, Australia, or Auckland, New Zealand. If you prefer, you may choose a round trip ticket from Maui to any major city in the United States or Canada, or from Maui to Sydney or Brisbane, Australia, or Auckland, New Zealand. Airfare will be via coach class. The retail value of the prize is not to exceed $4,000.
Second Place Winner
The second place winner will receive a free $500 gift certificate to Pacific Whale Foundation's Ocean Stores. You may use the gift certificate for purchases at our online Ocean Store or at our Ocean Stores in Ma'alaea or Lahaina. The third place winner will receive a free $250 gift certificate to Pacific Whale Foundation's Ocean Stores.
The grand prize, second and third place prizes may only be transferred to the winner's immediate family, such as parent, spouse, child or sibling. Any other transfer of the prize is prohibited. You must be 18 years of age or older to enter or to receive a prize.
There is no cash redemption or substitution of any of the prizes in the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta. You may be taxed for the value of the prize by your local, state and federal government. The prize winner is solely responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes that may become due.
Prize must be claimed by May 1, 2018.
The Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta is open to legal residents of the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia) and other countries where allowed by law. Employees of Pacific Whale Foundation, immediate family members (parent, child, sibling and spouse) of employees and persons living in the same households as employees (whether related or not) are not eligible to participate.
Void where prohibited by law, rule or regulation. All federal, state and local laws and regulations of the U.S. apply.
How to Enter
The 2016 Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta entry period begins February 15, 2016 and ends before the close of the regatta event at World Whale Day at Kalama Park in Kihei, Hawaii, on February 18, 2017 (online entry ends before midnight on February 1, 2017). To enter, simply complete the entry form. You may also obtain official printed entry forms available at Pacific Whale Foundation, 300 Maalaea Road, Suite 211, Wailuku, HI 96793.
Your entry in the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations. The invitation to enter the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta is void where prohibited by law.
The Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta will be held on February 18, 2017. The winners will be listed at Pacific Whale Foundation's website at http://www.pacificwhale.org. Winners will also be notified by mail.
The prize winners will be required to complete, sign and return a statement acknowledging acceptance of their prize. Failure to do so will result in disqualification of a prospective winner and a selection of an alternate winner.
By participating in the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. The decisions of Pacific Whale Foundation are final in all respects. Pacific Whale Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any individual who acts in violation of these Official Rules. We also reserve the right to disqualify any individual we find to be tampering with the entry process or operation of the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta. By entering, you agree and acknowledge that Pacific Whale Foundation and its employees, officers, and directors are not responsible for and shall not be liable for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by the prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use or misuse of any prize or from participating in the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta. Pacific Whale Foundation and its employees, officers, and directors are not responsible for and shall not be liable for any entries that are lost, delayed, late, incomplete, illegible or inaccurate entries, or any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any material associated with the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta.
Pacific Whale Foundation reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend, modify or cancel the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta should any cause or problem arise that would prevent it from being conducted properly. In this situation, we reserve the right to choose winners from entries in a manner deemed fair and appropriate by Pacific Whale Foundation.
Pacific Whale Foundation may use the winners' names, likenesses and city names for promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.
