Two Whales And A Thousand Of Their Friends
On Friday August 26th, we took the bus with a cardboard filled of painting cans to come back to the school Jaime Roldos Aguilera in Las Tunas where we did a talk about marine mammals three weeks ago (see the blog of August 3). The school could be identified very well from the road but it lacked a bit of colors… So with the children of 5th, 6th and 7th grade we put out to work ... or better into a paint to do a mural dedicated to the whales and the marine biodiversity!
We shared the work, while Alison and Simona were drawing a whale and then another one... Carolina was "cooking" with the painting cans... She was mixing the colors to get new tones. A fact what attracted the youngest children who were betting which color would come from the hands of the fairy Carolina!
When the colors were ready, the children were in a row in order to Enora and Carolina painted their hands. And in this way, the whales were filling of colors… Simona and Alison were helping the youngest and smallest kids to reach the highest whale.
Once the whale were painted whales, there were still many gaps in the wall ... And from this moment that we said that, an uncontrollable frenzy occurred… the children were drawing and painting crabs, octopus, fish, starfish, sea urchins, seaweeds, rocks, dolphin, jellyfish of all colors, sizes and shapes from the most common to the more "creative” ... A frenzy very difficult to stop... We have to admit that we lost all control! But look at the photos here is the result: the two whales in a few minutes were accompanied by a lot of friends!
And now from the road "La Ruta del Spondylus" (The road of Spondylus), we can see a colorful wall and we can read "We care about the whales": A message from the school Jaime Roldos’s kids to the whole world! Since it is one of the most touristic roads in Ecuador!

It's nice to see all those kids smiling again. Makes you feel like a human being after you're helping an innocent child... after all we need it more than ever. I remember when I finished my executive leadership development program back in 2003 and how happy I was that I could help people out. Caring is giving you know...
very funny for those kids
