Now in its 7th year, Seawees is a Wednesday morning program offered from 9:00 am to 10:00 am for children ages 3-5 and their parents/caregivers. A developmentally appropriate early-childhood program, SeaWees includes music/movement, demonstrations and guided exploration delivered in a child-centered environment. You can sign up for a single morning or for the entire session. Each session consists of four classroom sessions and one field adventure organized around a marine science theme.

From October 19 through November 16, we'll explore the theme of "Cool and Crazy Crustaceans." We'll observe and handle live and preserved crabs and crayfish to understand the connection between an animal body parts and the job they do. Movement activities will include crab races and hermit crab house-building. Our Seafari Outing will take place on October 16 at Ma'alaea Harbor, and will feature a Fish Catch and Release Derby. We'll provide the kid-safe catching equipment and a variety of tasty crab treats. Let's find out where the crabs are in the Harbor and who else might be waiting for a bite!

Throughout the SeaWees program, each child must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. The cost for the entire 5-week session (including 4 classroom sessions and one Seafari Outing) is $50 per child (or $40 for PWF members). To attend a single class, the fee is $12. The second child in the same family may attend for 50% off. Reservations are required. Please call (808) 249-8811 ext.1. Class sizes are limited, so reserve as early as possible. Please contact the instructor, Merrill Kaufman, at (808) 280-3163 for specific questions about the program or if your child has special needs.
