Russell Sparks to Present Free Talk Titled: "State of the Reef" on June 20

Russell Sparks, aquatic biologist with the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Aquatic Resources, will present a talk titled "State of the Reef" offering an overview of Maui's coral reef trends, threats and management plans for the future, on Thursday, June 20, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.

The talk is free and takes place at Pacific Whale Foundation's Discovery Center at the ocean-facing level of the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops, off Route 30 (Honoapiilani Highway) in Ma'alaea. It is presented  as part of Pacific Whale Foundation's Making Waves Lecture Series. 

Russell Sparks received his B.S. in Biology from Oregon State University. He received his M.S. in Marine Biology from University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1996. Since 1998 Russell has worked as the Education Specialist for the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Aquatic Resources, Maui, Hawaii. 

Pacific Whale Foundation's Making Waves Lecture Series offers free presentations about the marine environment and sustainable living at Pacific Whale Foundation's Discovery Center. The presentations are offered every other month, on the third Thursday of that month.
