Book Donation in Puerto Lopez Schools

August 2, 2012 Puerto López

Today, Monday July 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM, Pacific Whale Foundation, in collaboration with Jim Lehmann of the Center for Whale Research, donated numerous books to the school La Escuela Particular Lidar, located in the Puerto Lopez district.  The two organizations collaborate in environmental education programs and the scientific studies of humpback whales, and help to raise money to buy books and a place to keep them in the school.

The books will form part of the foundation for the eventual library and laboratory, and be used as reference material for students, professors and the public in general.

“Our mission is for more and more kids to learn about whales and the marine environment, and to improve the school’s Natural Science Laboratory so that it can contribute to the school and the community” – said Cristina Castro, Director of Research for the Pacific Whale Foundation.

I feel very happy to donate books to the schools where I studied, and for more children to have the opportunity to study and learn.
